The Connecticut Sun announced Wednesday two roster moves including waiving center Queen Egbo and signing guard Veronica Burton to a rest-of-season contract.
Egbo was originally drafted No. 10 overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever. The 6-foot-4 center played with the Fever in the 2022 season, starting in 31 of the 33 games played and picking up WNBA All-Rookie Team honors.
The Sun announced they acquired Egbo on May 7 in a trade with the Washington Mystics. The Mystics received the rights to Bernadett Határ and the Sun’s 2025 second-round pick.
Egbo has appeared in three regular-season games for the Sun this season. She tallied 2 points and 2 rebounds in seven minutes played.
Veronica Burton, originally drafted No. 7 overall in the 2022 WNBA draft, joins the Sun after two seasons with the Dallas Wings. The 5-foot-9 guard appeared in 76 contests for the Wings, starting in 19, where she averaged 2.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
“We’re excited to add Veronica Burton to our roster,” Sun General Manager Darius Taylor said in a statement. “She brings essential backcourt depth and an ability to defend and play the Connecticut Sun style of basketball.”
The Connecticut Sun will welcome the New York Liberty to Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, June 8 at 1 p.m. in their third Commissioner’s Cup game.
