Phoenix Mercury Signs Charisma Osborne

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Mercury announced two roster moves Thursday including signing guard Charisma Osborne and waiving forward Morgan Bertsch.

Charisma Osborne was drafted to the Mercury out of the University of California – Los Angeles earlier this year in the 2024 draft in the third round at No. 25 overall.

Osborne spent five seasons at UCLA, starting in 151 of 153 games. As a Bruin, she averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists while recording 237 steals. In the final game of her collegiate career, Osborne recorded 8 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists in UCLA’s Sweet 16 matchup against Louisiana State University.

In two preseason games for the Mercury, Osborne racked up 8 points and 2 assists in 19 minutes prior to being waived before the official start of the 2024 season.

After being waived, Osborne took to social media to thank fans for their support.

“OMG feeling all the love from so many people! Thank you for all of the kind messages. Trusting His timing and His plan, it’s up from here!!”

Morgan Bertsch was drafted No. 29 overall in the 2019 WNBA draft by the Dallas Wings. Bertsch signed with the Chicago Sky before the start of the 2023 season where she averaged 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 28 games.

Bertsch was traded to the Mercury earlier this year in a deal that included Kahleah Copper in exchange for Michaela Onyenwere, Brianna Turner and draft picks.

With the Mercury, Bertsch has appeared in 8 games and averaged 2.6 points and 1.5 rebounds.
