Yesterday, WHN had the opportunity to sit in on a virtual press conference for the new draftees to the LA Sparks. New additions Kia Nurse, Aari McDonald, and Monique Billings expressed excitement to join the team at the Crypto Arena this year. Nurse revealed that she is still battling a minor injury and will not play for Team Canada this year, but anticipates being back for the WNBA season. Nurse is also recovering from a prior ACL injury

Billings and McDonald, two players with a history in Los Angeles expressed excitement to be returning to California. Billings was an all-star breakout at UCLA and McDonald grew up in Fresno. Both players noted that Lisa Leslie was a major inspiration and source of excitement for playing for the Sparks.

Also in major news for the Sparks, they announced yesterday that guard Lexie Brown will be returning to the team for a two-year contract. “Her enthusiasm for the Sparks is contagious,” said LA Sparks GM Reagan Pebley to reporters.
