Colorado Signs An Unexpected New Team Member Midseason

Inside Colorado Women’s’ Basketball’s latest addition.

Colorado Women’s Basketball has had an explosive season that has led them to ranking as one of the top Division 1 programs in the nation. Despite this overwhelming success, they’ve commissioned a new secret weapon to help them finish out their season in March Madness strong.

Earlier this week, Colorado Women’s Basketball signed a new addition to the team. That new addition was 6-year-old Bellamy Korn. Korn was accompanied by her mom and family when she signed her National Letter of Intent with the entire CU women’s basketball team.

Bellamy is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia which has caused her to frequently miss school and limit social gatherings. She has found a new home with the Buffs as they continue their standout season.

Bellamy’s signing is a part of Team IMPACT which is a multiyear program that signs children facing serious illness and disability onto college athletic teams.

“The official signing was a sight to see,” Team IMPACT CEO Seth Rosenzweig told WHN. “The real magic is in the friendship that has already blossomed between Bellamy and her new teammates… as Bellamy continues to receive treatment, she will get social and emotional support from Coach Payne and her players.”

Founded in 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 3,000 children with 750+ colleges. Earlier this year, Team IMPACT also signed a young athlete with Duke Women’s Basketball.
