BATON ROUGE – LSU’s rematch against Auburn was nothing short of electric. Both teams had something to prove – their standing in the SEC and in the March Madness rankings. For LSU, it was deeply personal – LSU’s reputation as the reigning national champion was put in jeopardy when they lost to the Auburn Tigers earlier this year.
In Thursday night’s game, the ladies of LSU were out for revenge.

In what was a deeply physical matchup, the Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers faced off in a close game. Both Honesty Scott-Grayson and Angel Reese had career defining games that led their teams and kept the pace of the game.
For Auburn, scrappy and tenacious guard play was the key to sticking in the game against a tough LSU team. In the first half, Honesty Scott-Grayson had an explosive game which led her to career highs in 3 point shooting. Her dynamic with point guard JaMaya Mingo-Young was tough to guard and challenged LSU’s guards defensively.
What ultimately put LSU over the top was an outstanding showing from LSU forward angel Reese. Simply put: Auburn had no solution for Reese on the offensive or defensive boards. Reese ended with an impressive 25 points and 20 rebounds. Auburn’s post players were quick and shifty, but not strong enough to limit LSU’s post offense.
Honesty Scott-Grayson finished for Auburn with 28 points and 4 assists.
